Experience

William D. Bradford has served as Endowed Professor of Business and Economic Development, and Professor of Finance and Business Economics at the University of Washington’s Foster School of Business since 1999. From 1994 to 1999 he was Dean of the UW Business School and holder of the Kirby Cramer Chair at the University of Washington. He has also served as Faculty Director of the Business School’s Business and Economic Development Center since 2005.

Short BIO

William D. Bradford served as Assistant and Associate Professor of Finance at the Graduate School of Business at Stanford University. He then became Professor of Finance at the Smith School of Business, at College Park (UMCP); where he was also served as Chair of the Finance Department and then Associate Dean and Acting Dean.

Professor Bradford serves on the Board of Directors of the Commerce Bank (Seattle), and was a member of the board of directors of the Russell Trust Company from 2000 to 2008. His teaching interests include Corporate Finance, Banking, Entrepreneurial Finance and Venture Capital. His areas of research include Venture Capital, Entrepreneurial Finance, Corporate Finance and Banking. In addition to the schools above, he has taught at Ohio State, New York University, UCLA and Yale University. He has been a consultant to numerous firms and has had international lectureships in corporate finance and entrepreneurship in the UK, Indonesia, Egypt, the Ivory Coast, South Korea, Canada, China and South Africa. He has authored or co-authored three books and more than 50 articles on finance during his career. Professor Bradford’s teaching areas are Entrepreneurial Finance, Venture Capital, Managerial Finance, and Management of Financial Institutions.
